Black & white vs colored images

When I deliver a gallery, you may notice that there are no duplicates. Some images I love in color, and some I feel should be black and white. I feel that both edits are telling the same story, but in a different way. I do usually leave a similar color version of the black and white photos, but never 100% the same.

A serious black and white photo feels timeless, as does a belly laugh. There is just something about black and white photos to me, that freeze a moment a create magic out of it.

Maybe because photography started out with black and white images. So to me, it reminds me of an old photo. I can picture my great, great, great grandchildren looking at images I have taken of my kids, and our kitchen, home, and life.

The black and white ones feel like they hold a little a little something special.

But… I LOVE color too!

I love looking back at my son’s baby pictures and seeing how blonde he was! My daughter’s eyes were SO BLUE, then SO GREEN and now are the prettiest shade of brown. I’m thankful I have the images to remember all of these little phases about them.

We travel to Hume often. I’m grateful I have photos of every season. The lush green grass in the Spring, tan lines on my kids in the Summer, orange and yellow leaves in the winter…

When it comes to black and white vs color, there is definitely a place for both.

I will be sharing some tips for taking and editing photos with your phone soon! I’ll also have a FREE preset!
